Spell book in action
A downloadable asset pack
For this challenge I wanted to try making a book that looked like it wasn't meant to be used because it uses a more sinister type of magic. This meant using extra details like the opened lock and chain as well as choosing a more green based colour pallete. I also wanted the scene to convey a sense of chaos and power from the book so I made the book able to make these other objects hover which by using emmisive maps on certain parts of certain objects.
For the floor and cloth material I used substance designer. The cloth material was mainly made using designs warping tools and masking out colours. The bricks however, were more focused around texture and shaping. I wanted them to look slightly worn and make it look like there was some kind of magic flowing through them due to the book.
This project was a really nice chance to try some new techniques and helped me work out how to make books better. Before this project I wasn't the best at books haha, but I found doing this challenger helped me break down the shaping way more than before.
